Qtel And Siemens sign $2.47m 3G lab deal

Qatar Telecom (Qtel) and Siemens Communications have announced a joint investment of QR9 million ($2.47 million) for a Third generation (3G) Wireless Telecommunications Laboratory at the College of North Atlantic in Qatar (CNAQ).

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, chairman of Qtel, Soenke Peters, vice president, Middle East, from Siemens Communications and Harald Jorch, president of CNAQ, at a press event held at Qtel's headquarters.

The joint programme involves short technical courses in 3G and a series of tests and procedures to characterize the functionality of 3G technology and the effects on related services
